Our friends at Story Events were having to postpone their London Summer Events show due to Covid 19, but they wanted to be able to offer something virtually to get the events industry moving, motivated and inspired. Among a selection of other offerings, we were approached to deliver an online fitness class. Our company director, Jane Coulston, is an experienced fitness teacher, acrobat and dancer so was keen to deliver it. We were due to be the entertainment sponsor for the third time for this one of a kind event, bringing performers and immersing them in this creatively in the space. We were delighted to be able to offer something under the current restrictions that would connect people and help their health and wellbeing.
Our company director, Jane, has been running regular dance classes to professionals and students over the lockdown period, so was familiar with running movement based classes over Zoom and Microsoft Teams. She prepared a class that was all about strength and lengthening using barre and pilates-style conditioning to help participants stay mobile and maintain good posture whilst spending more time immobile due to working from home.
There was great uptake on the class with over forty participants. It was great to see so many people connect and move together online when we were all feeling isolated and unsure of things. The Story Events team put together a fantastic few days of activities and seminars and we found it smooth and seamless. This was a great start to collaborating on engaging virtual events, a first of many to come. It’s amazing what you can create online in a way we never would have considered pre-pandemic.
