It’s the bit we all love in a good documentary that goes behind the scenes at a concert or show, or perhaps when the camera goes away and the newsreader gets a ‘touch up’. It makes us all think ‘what would that feel like?’ As we can see the performers are focused on what they have to do once they step on stage or the director says action, whilst the artist (hair, paint, make up,costume) is totally focused on the art, which just happens to be a human!
Each gem, stroke of paint, hairgrip, lip touch up and eyelash has been hand designed to add something and it all has importance in the overall picture. It also cannot slip, drop or hinder the performer in any way as the two must work in tandem to create the performance and transport the audience to another place!
There is nothing like that rush of excitement for the performers as they are transformed into another being and character to take flight on stage or screen and we could watch those moments on repeat…maybe we will make a video of just these moments one day and ask both artist and performer – what was on your mind at this very moment.
I bet it will surprise us!
