It’s been on the list for a few years to try exhibiting at the Event Production Show, it is after all the biggest UK event for the industry. However, timing is key and I have not felt we were in the right place to exhibit – until now. It’s not that we weren’t the right fit for the show exactly, but as a business owner I think we have that gut feel for these things and this time it feels right.
For anyone not familiar with the event or industry events of this nature I highly recommend you visit as many as you can, to give you just one example of their value I always use our Christmas residency as an example. In February 2018 I took a wander around EPS and had various conversations with anyone from lighting and AV to hotel venues purely to get to know people and find out a little more about the industry in a broader sense. It is one of these conversations where a person from a staging company and I were chatting and when I mentioned I ran a growing entertainment company he said, you should go over to that stand, they are looking for a new supplier for that. Long story short, that was the beginning of a lucrative partnership with our first ever Christmas residency for exclusive and shared party nights and that conversation turned over £100k for the company in year 1, and we weren’t even exhibiting. Right place. Right Time.
That’s why these things are so important and let’s be honest, most of us want to meet people in person to get a feel for them, their work and their ethos beyond the company they work for or run. I am feeling really excited about exhibiting this year and 7 years on from that initial conversation that changed so much for BRE. I am looking forward to getting started and making some more magic with like minded people, brands and companies. Updates coming soon.
